I need you.

Dear Friends,
     I need your honest opinion.

Okay.  So, I bought this crocheted yarn piece at a Thriftstore the other day because when I saw it I thought, "Oooh... nice!  The colors will match the girls room PERFECTLY!  Retro bright yarn... I love it!"  So I bought it for $2.00 and brought it home.  When my husband saw it he said, "Oooh... what's that thing?!"
And I responded, "It's for the girls room, don't you just love it?"
Husband looks at me, raises his eyebrows and says, "Are you serious?"
With great pride I say, "Yeah!  I found this beauty at the Thriftstore.  Isn't it great?!"
Husband laughs and says,"Not only do I not like it, I hate it."
I gasp and say, "Really?! You hate it?  Wow, not only do I like it, I LOVE it!"
And then he goes on to tell me all the reasons why he detests it. And all the while I am fighting back tears.  Okay, not really.  But seriously, is it that bad?

  1. This has Jessie P written ALL OVER IT!! I am loving it!!! It would be PERFECT in your girls room! Or in my living room...either one! :-)

Not only do I love it because it's vintage, but I ALSO love it because you got it at a Thrift store. (and payed 3 bucks)

I could shop in those all day long!

  2. My initial reaction was UGH! but after the explanation and it is for the girls room...I like it. I can totally see it in a girls room. It would be very cute. Like I said, I like it for a girls room.

I am sending out J.J's graduation announcements. Are you guys still at you same address or is there another address for me to send it to yet?

  4. Nooo!!!! I do like it!! At first glance I just wasn't quite sure what it was from the picture until I read your post. I then looked at the picture again and really liked it. I would put it up in Mikenna's room or make a pillow out of it...it came out wrong. I think it would be VERY cute in a girl's room. SERIOUSLY!!!

  5. I really like it for the little girls room. I would want it for my girls too. I can see why a guy would not like it all. Put it in the girls room but for Fathers Day take it down, wrap it up pretty and give it to Dewey for Fathers Day:)

  6. What? Dewey thought something from the Thriftstore could be ugly? He must be losing his sense of style! LOL

  9. Hahahaha (I am laughing at your story) but I like it! Honestly the first thing I thought was "oh, Meshan she is so crafty"

Isn't it funny what husbands like, dislike, and absolutely detest.

  10. The first thing I thought was “wow, you made that?”. I love it too! Why don’t men see the charm in such precious things???

I like it Meshan, you always have good taste. I think you should make a pillow out of it and put it on Trey's side of the bed! HAHA! It sounds like something Jonathan would say.

  12. Well I won't lie, I was reading your post agreeing with Trey, but I wouldn't go as far as he did to say I hate it. However, the more I look at it, I see why you grabbed it, the colors and flowers are kinda cool and funky, I think it would look good in some big cartoonesque kind of frame and Trey may change his tune!

  13. Moosh, it's not even a question if I like it. You darn bet ya! But then I am all about old recreated stuff. Better yet you didn't have to spend hours making it! SOOO cute in the girls room with a funky shabby chic frame or somthing.

  14. Your piece is actually crewel embroidery. My sister used to do all her kids stockings and I can tell you, there was a ton of work involved in that piece. Each of those flowers is made of a different type of embroidery stitch and likely took hours and hours to make. I think it's pretty--the colors are very feminine and would likely look sweet in your daughter's room. Maybe your could find a white or pink frame to brighten it up a bit and your man may just be surprised at your treasure.
