Furniture Drama (Part 3)

Dear Love,
Why do you hate the beast?  Are you jealous that I spent an entire week morning and night with her?  You were certainly starting to warm up to her and even had some great input to make her shine in all her glory.  You've recently lost that lovin' feeling though and I think I know why.  First, let me tell you about her progress.

I decided to paint her red with a black glaze to accentuate her rugged good looks.  Once her hardware was painted black she looked amazing, with a decidedly Asian flair.  You had the brilliant idea to make her sing by adding a little Korean love.

After I spent my every waking moment with her I(we) were so excited to put her together and get her moved into the house.  I was giddy with excitement as we were putting all her drawers in... until I realized there were pieces missing.  Two drawers to be exact.  What the?!

It suddenly dawned on me that in my excitement/haste to score a FREE piece of furniture, I wasn't that thorough in my inspection of it.  Some of the drawers were inside and others were stacked haphazardly to the side.  I didn't even ask if all the pieces were there. Duh!  Why else would it be free?!  In my defense I thought it was free because two of the large drawers were in need of repair.

"Unbelievable" was what you kept saying, while trying to hide a smirk and suppressing the urge to say, "I told you so".  I was so disappointed, thinking of all my wasted time and energy on the beast.  The name of the manufacturer was on the back of the furniture so I decided to contact them and see if there was any way they could make me two more drawers.  Imagine my surprise when I checked out the Henredon website and noticed it was high end furniture!  My beast would have cost about $5,000.00 new!

Funny how once you know the value of something it changes your outlook.  I decided to go ahead and pay to have two new drawers made and while I was at it have the large ones fixed professionally instead of rigging them myself.

The Beast will soon turn into a beauty, but she will forever affectionately(or not so affectionately in your case) be called, "The Beast".

xoxo, Me
