Birthday Lovin

Dear Love, Family, Kiddos, Friends, etc...
      My Birthday was nothing less than magical.  Seriously, it was amazing.  So, as you recall, Restaurant Week and a day on the mountain were already fantastic, but then today was the icing on the (cinnamon roll pan)cake.

I woke up to Trey making a delicious breakfast of Cinnamon Roll Pancakes.  Mmmm.  The night before my birthday he prepped it all, but wouldn't tell me what he had planned up his sleeve.  While he was prepping I hung my own Bday banner Annie made and put out the placemat to give everyone a little encouragement to celebrate me.  Hey, a moms gotta do what a moms gotta do.  It turns out, no encouragement was needed.  To be honest, Trey usually does way better than me with Holidays.

Jonas made me a punch card with 18 breakfast punches on it.  He loves pancakes and he's hoping to learn how to make them himself.  Clara made me a coupon for 4 free spa sessions.  Sonora made me a coupon to do 9 free jobs.  Woot!  This mama is gonna be spoiled for at least a month!

Clara even massaged my shoulders while I ate breakfast, the royal treatment I tell ya.

When I got to work I was beyond surprised to walk in to this:

My coworker, Nancilee had tied 24 balloons all over the room!  And then there were these goodies from sweet friends (Beth, Missy, and Nancilee) waiting for me:

After work I rushed to pick up my friend Bettie and off we went to soak at the pools of Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs and Resort Spa.  It's free on your Birthday!!

When I got home there was a package from my dad and Barb with three super cute shirts.  They were exactly my style.   What are the odds?  10,000 to 1 that's what.  Oh, and there was a package from my sweet Danika too.  She went to my Pinterest account and made me the cutest replica of something I pinned.

ABQ Balloon Fiesta

Dear Family,
We went to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta last weekend and it was freezing, but oh so fun!  I made breakfast burritos the night before and at 4:00am we headed out with our breakfast in the backpack.

It was still dark when we got to the Fiesta.  You weren't sure what all the hype was about.  It was a large field, with lots of baskets in the back of trucks.

When the first balloon ascended they played the National Anthem and I got a little choked up.

As more balloons went into the air you started to get excited, pointing out all the different colors and shapes.

It was neat to be able to walk so close to the balloons as they were being inflated.  We could reach and touch them.

Every direction you looked there was another balloon going into the sky and it was fun to pick out our favorites.

Everyone really enjoyed the "special shape" balloons.  Atticus said he wanted to pop the angel though because she was, "so ugly".  He was bummed the Darth Vader balloon never made it into the air because of the wind.

Because it was so cold and windy a lot of the balloons didn't go up this year, but we still loved every minute.

This is my favorite picture; I love how the lone balloon looks beside the wispy clouds and moon.

Fall fun

Dear Family,

I could see the leaves changing on the mountain and I could hear them calling my name.  Then, one day when I was feeling a little down about something or other the dear sweet husband said it was time to go see my leaves. 

Oh my, it did my soul good.

We drove to the top of the mountain, stopping every once in awhile to take pictures.

When we got to the top we found a little trail and decided to go for a walk through the woods.

It was beautiful!  We were trying to reach the front side of the mountain so we could look out on Santa Fe as the sun set.

The sun ended up moving faster than we could walk so we decided we should head back before it got too dark.

As we were walking to the car we began to hear music.  Faint music that sounded like... bag pipes?  As we walked it got louder and, yes, it was definitely bag pipes.  It was loud now and the forest was literally full of music.  It was echoing all around us and it was hard to know which direction it was coming from.  It was very magical with the setting sun on the golden leaves and then the incredible music that seemed to be coming from nowhere and everywhere at the same time.

We thought we saw the magical bag piper at one point and the kids tried to run to catch up with him, but then he bolted and disappeared around a corner.   Hmm.  When we got to the van we were loading up the kids and we looked up to see a bearded man, in a kilt, with bag pipes in his hands.  So cool.  It wasn't the same person the kids had been chasing though.  Oops.

As we were driving down the mountain we stopped one more time at an outlook to take pictures.

A bike ride

Dear Family,

For Family Night we went on a bike ride.  The weather in Santa Fe is perfect and I love being outside here.  It was 120 degrees in Nevada this week.  Yuck!  I don't miss that at all.

Atticus rode on his scoot bike the whole way and he kept up really well.

Clara learned how to ride her bike the day after we moved to Santa Fe and she rides it like a champ now.  The kids ride their bikes almost everyday in front of our house.

These two cutie pie sisters have been the best of friends this summer.  They always wear matching clothes and Nora even wears Clara's old frames so that it looks like they both have glasses.  Oh my goodness, please keep being friends like you are now, it makes me so very happy!

Papa bought Clara a bike helmet since she learned how to ride her bike.

She picked it out herself.  Hotpink, butterflies and leopard print... that's my Clara.
